Here I am, writing at 3:30 am to get things kicked off.
I wonder if the soldiers at Gettysburg were up this early. Writing letters to their wives, or perhaps in a journal?
Why am I up at 3:30 am writing this?
Because I’m pumped!
The History Road Trip is here to give you lesser-known stories about history’s famous characters and locations.
Was Joshua Chamberlain the real hero of Gettysburg?
Did Merriweather Lewis commit suicide…or was he murdered?
How did John Wilkes Booth end up locked inside a burning barn during his escape?
Where is the best BBQ in Memphis? (spoiler: in my opinion, it is actually close by..in Mississippi)
I’ll also give you the history and travel resources I used to visit all the locations you will see in this newsletter. Think of this as your travel atlas…
…with someone who will reply to your comments and questions.
What’s with the podcast?
The History Road Trip podcast is here to bring these stories to life.
That’s where I’ll talk about these characters, tell their stories, and walk you through the historic sites…sometimes completely in ‘story mode’ and sometimes more informally.
I’ll have experienced guests on to talk about their own history travels.
My goal is to provide value to you with every single podcast and post.
How will this grow?
This is where I need your help to get off the ground!
I will start a referral rewards program where you can earn credits towards membership (i.e. Get X people to sign up for free and get Y months of paid membership at no cost)
I aim to foster a community of fellow history-inspired travelers - like you.
Anyone who follows The History Road Trip can also join the community chat any time.
(although only paid subscribers can initiate new chat thread topics there)
I’m horrible at self-promotion, so I will focus on providing you with the BEST story-driven, travel and history newsletter on the market. The rest will follow.
With that…on to the good stuff.
